2024 The year of the Re-Evolution
The year 2024 marks the beginning of a new era for the college. The school starts a Re-Evolution that involves significant improvements in the educational model and in the academic facilities, sports and general services.
The college carries out strong investment in the renovation of the buildings, in the creation of new educational spaces and in the update of your project, always respecting their DNA foundation.
2023 Change in Direction
Once you have finished the course 2022/2023, in July of that year, Jorge Muiños Guereca the relay takes Fine Pérez Casais as the new Director of the Colegio Obradoiro. The center started from that moment a new and promising stage.
2020 Healthy cooking
In the course 2020-2021 the Colegio Obradoiro open your new kitchen, which marks a before and an after in the power of the school. Our team develops healthy menus with fresh produce, and proximity, under control and nutritional quality and taste is excellent.
2019 Primary Education International
The International Baccalaureate give the final authorization to the Colegio Obradoiro to teach the Primary School program, becoming the only centre of international education of the province of A Coruña that provides the full continuum of the three international programs. From then on, the College Obradoiro offers this education international prestige from 3 to 18 years.
2018 Middle Years program
The International Baccalaureate give the final authorization to the Colegio Obradoiro to teach the Middle Years programme (MYP)three years after the start of its implementation.
2015 International Baccalaureate
The School starts the process of implementation of the programmes of the International baccalaureate: Primary years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years programme (MYP).
In September 2015, José Varela Núñezafter 28 years in office, ceases to be a Director of the Colegio Obradoiro and Fine Pérez Casais takes over in the Direction of the Centre.
2004 Sport, culture and music
In the academic year 2004-2005 completes the adaptation of the number of students maximum per class that indicates the LOGSE and we began the following year 2005-2006 with 700 students.
From the first year of operation, we consider as a fundamental goal that our students receive a high education: academic, human, musical, and cultural-sports, which are the four basic pillars of our educational offer.
Activities-sports, cultural and musical training, an indispensable complement in our educational project, appear as mandatoryfrom the first moment, for all students within the wider school day of our Center.
1995 Opening CESUGA
In the course of 1995-1996 beginning its academic activities (studies Address of Company) the university center, with the name of CESUGA (Center for advanced Studies University of Galicia), in an annex building to the main building of the College.
1993 Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio
A founding member of the Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio.
1991 Reduction of the ratio of students
Beginning in the academic year 1991-1992, by the Organic law of General Educational System (LOGSE), is applied gradually to a reduction in the number of students per classroom from 40 (at all levels) to 25 in nursery and Primary Education, 30 in Compulsory Secondary education, and 35 in high school, to conform to the rules of the copyright law.
1990 University Center
In the year 1990 is projected to the creation of a private university of Higher Studies in Businessattached to a university of international standing, with the joint participation of two other colleges gallegos: Ftaa and Peleteiro of Santiago, in a plot of the campus of the College Workshop. This project is materialized with the signing of a agreement with the University College Dublin, National University of Ireland in the year 1994.
1986 International Baccalaureate
Colegio Obradoiro is the first of Galicia and the fourth of Spain to join the International Baccalaureate. Since then this school works in accordance with the methodology of this international organization, which today has an extensive network of global prestigious educational centers in the capitals and major cities around the world.
1982 Formal studies of Music
Are taught, in addition, formal studies of Music since the year 1982. The early years, only the Elementary grades, as a branch of the Professional Conservatory of La Coruña and, from 1989 as an autonomous center attached to the Conservatory of Music of our city: first Grade Elementary and then the Professional. Our students always compatibilizaron studies of Primary, Secondary, and high school with the music. Approximately, 55% of our student body, in these ages, are the studies of official music in the School.
