The school is committed to the health of its educational community. We have established a health space called Obradoiro International School Nursing Service, with registration number C-15-004700.
The nursing service is accessible, in addition to the centre itself, through the telephone number 981281888 or at the following email address: enfermeria@colegioobradoiro.es
- Refrain from sending their child to school if he/she is ill. If the child has fever, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, flu or a suspected contagious disease, the child must first go to his/her pediatrician to indicate if the child can attend the school.
- Always notify if your child is following any treatment or has been given any medication (dose, time), as well as any changes or updates in the usual medication regimen.
- Communicate allergies at the beginning of the course or as soon as they are detected (food, medication, etc.), as well as any major illness or hospital admissions.
Administration of medication
ACCORDING TO THE RD 954/2015, 23 OCTOBER, WHICH REGULATES THE INDICATION, USE AND AUTHORIZATION FOR DISPENSING MEDICINES AND HEALTHCARE PRODUCTS FOR HUMAN USE ON THE PART OF NURSES.
For the school nurse to administer medication in school, you need these requirements:
1 - In case of fever or acute pain (headache, menstrual pain, dental, etc.) that require the administration of analgesics and/or antitérmicos that don't need a prescription (paracetamol, ibuprofen), you can only do this if you have signed the AUTHORISATION-GENERAL of the department of nursing.

2 - In case of a common disease that accurate for a few days, the administration of medications spot (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, inhalers, eye drops, etc.), or chronic disease which requires long-term treatment, or rescue ( allergies, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.) , will be needed:
- AUTHORISATION OF THE MEDICATION, signed by a parent/legal guardian (detailing the name of the medication, dose, regimen, duration of treatment).
Download the Medication Authorisation Document
- COPY OF THE PRESCRIPTION (with name medication, route, dose, regimen, the start and end of treatment).
- MEDICINE IN the ORIGINAL CONTAINER, labeled with name, surname and course.
If it has to be reconstituted, the nurse will carry this out. We also have a refrigerator for its conservation.
IMPORTANT:
No medication will be administered without these two requirements: copy of the prescription + signed authorisation.
In the case of chronic illness (allergies, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.), an interview with the nurse should be arranged and a medical report should be provided, with the specific protocol to be followed and the specific medication regimen in an emergency, as well as the medication required, labeled with the student's name, to be renewed each year.
